These illustrations are from "Are You My Friend?", the first book in this series for young readers. Each story centers on a little brother and his older sister (Raymond and Sheila) dealing with real world (age-appropriate) emotional learning experiences. Other titles in the series include some of life's biggest questions, as in:

   "No Help Wanted"
   "What Can He Do?"
   "Who Made This Mess?"

Each title has a compelling story with characters that kids will care about. That's the #1 goal — an entertaining story that will beg to be re-read again and again. The secondary goal is to promote Emotional Intelligence (EQ) through fiction and increased self-awareness. Without subjecting the reader to teachy-preachy drivel, the characters grow and learn how to get along better with themselves and others. That's the underlying EQ content.

On the back page we've included something unique to help parents help young readers engage in the EQ content and increase their EQ skills (it's likely to increase parenting skills too!).

About the Writer

Annie Fox, M.Ed.wrote and illustrated her first children's book, People Are Like Lollipops (Holiday House) before she was old enough to legally sign the contract. Then, along with her husband, David, Annie co-founded the world's first public access microcomputer facility in 1977 where she began exploring ways technology could be used to empower kids. This led her to write her best selling introductory computer book, Armchair BASIC (Osborne-McGraw Hill), which afforded her the opportunity to become a nationally respected writer/designer of children's software for George Lucas Educational Foundation, IBM, Sony, Disney Interactive, Electronic Arts, Creative Wonders, Humongous Entertainment, Hasbro/PlaySkool, Broderbund, LeapFrog, and Microsoft. One of The InSite’s most popular features is Hey Terra, a Cyberspace Dear Abby (AKA Annie Fox). The Teen Survival Guide to Dating & Relating (formerly titled Can You Relate?, Free Spirit Publishing), Annie's award winning relationship skill-building book for teens is based on hundreds of email questions from around the world and her responses to them.
